You need to know your blood sugar levels over time. You don’t want those numbers to get too high. High levels of blood sugar can damage your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, feet, and eyes.

 

A few Tips for Staying Healthy With Type 2 Diabetes:

  • Start by choosing healthly foods, particularly low GI foods that prevent blood sugar spikes

  • Eat regularly – do not skip meals, and control your portion size

  • Exercise Regularly – aim for at least 150 min of moderate activity per week

  • Check your blood glucose often

  • Take your medication as prescribed

  • Stay informed – understand your disease

  • Get help for depression
