A mobility scooter is a very reliable means of transport. They offer flexibility and convenience. It helps you to get a better standard of life with independence and quality desired. One can freely roam anywhere and he or she really does not need to rely on others for their daily requirements.
These scooters are becoming very popular now days because of there reliability and very affordable and reasonable prices.
One can carry these mobility scooters without many efforts because most of them are such that they can come easily in the trunk of a car. Folding mobility scooters are also available or we can use special rack for carrying these scooters. Therefore, we can say that there are numbers of reason for buying a mobility scooter. Persons diagnosed by multiple sclerosis generally use these scooters. These scooters now days are available in a very wide range.
It generally consists of two rear wheels and a seat over it, sometimes mobility scooters also come with four wheels. However, three wheel scooters weigh less than that of four-wheeled scooter but four-wheeled scooter are much balanced and faster at the turns. Handlebars generally control them. These scooters generally have rotating seats that make your journey very comfortable and easier. They are usually battery driven. Gasoline models of these scooters are also available in the market but electric scooters are much preferred over these gasoline-powered scooters.
Allan R.thieme built first mobility scooter in 1968. These are very useful for the persons who cannot use wheelchairs. Many people think these mobility scooters effects the health because they think person using mobility scooter may gain weight which can later on lead to various other health related problems. Due to their structure, it is quite difficult to take sharp turns and it requires a straight posture, which may not be possible for everyone.
These scooters generally have a very low ground clearance, which make the ride uncomfortable. There is no provision for head and leg rest in these scooters. These are some of the drawbacks of mobility scooters but now days to overcome these problems and to satisfy everyone’s needs companies are manufacturing scooters on order. These ordered scooters are no doubt much costly then the simple models but can really be very useful. Therefore , overall we can say that mobility scooters can be of great help for most of the people.
